Biochem/Physiol Actions | Camostat is a synthetic, orally bioavailble serine protease inhibitor. Camostat mesylate inhibits the production of TNF-α and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP 1) by monocytes. It also inhibits the activity of pancreatic stellate cells. Camostat mesylate regulates the cytokine and inflammation and is effective in the treatment of dibutyltin dichloride-induced rat pancreatic fibrosis. |
