Biochem/Physiol Actions | Sildenafil Citrate is the citrate salt of a pyrazolopyrimidinone derivative structurally related to zaprinast. Sildenafil selectively inhibits cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP)-specific type 5 phosphodiesterase, resulting in vasodilation in the corpus cavernosum of the penis and penile erection. |
Application | 1. Urological Agents Drugs used in the treatment of urogenital conditions and diseases such as URINARY INCONTINENCE; PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA; and ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION. 2. Vasodilator Agents Drugs used to cause dilation of the blood vessels. 3. Phosphodiesterase 5 Inhibitors Compounds that specifically inhibit PHOSPHODIESTERASE 5. |
