Biochem/Physiol Actions | Hyaluronidase degrades hyaluronan and has been found to be inappropriately regulated during cancer progression. These enzymes randomly cleave β-N-acetylhexosamine-[1→4] glycosidic bonds in hyaluronic acid, chondroitin, and chondroitin sulfates. |
Preparation Note | This enzyme is soluble in 20 mM sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.0, with 77 mM sodium chloride and 0.1 mg/ml BSA at 1 mg/ml, yielding a clear solution. |
Unit Definition | One unit will cause a change in % transmittance at 600 nm of 0.330 per minute at pH 5.35 at 37 °C in a 2.0 mL reaction mixture (45 minute assay). |
