l Biological Information

Biochem/Physiol Actions

α-Mannosidase is an acid hydrolase which is located in plant vacuoles and is thought to be involved with the turnover of N-ed glycoproteins.

αMannosidase has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of B-lymphocytes.

Application

Liberates mannose from a variety of synthetic and natural α-mannosides.

α-Mannosidase can be used to liberate mannose from a variety of synthetic and natural α-mannosides. It has also been used in a study to investigate the causes of neurodegeneration in mucolipidosis II ′knock-in′ mice.

Preparation Note

This enzyme is soluble in water (1 mg/ml), yielding a clear and colorless solution.
